Date: 08 May 2019
Place: College of Aquaculture and Fisheries (CAF), Can Tho University
Participants: 30 participants including farmers, feed manufacturers, processing plants, chemical producers and provincial aquaculture departments.
Prof. Tran Ngoc Hai, Vice Dean of the CAF presented the important contributions of the project to the sustainability development of the aquaculture industry in Mekong Delta, Vietnam |
|
Prof. Nguyễn Thanh Phương, coordinator of the project in Vietnam, presented briefly the overview and objectives of the project. Project members presented the outcomes of the projects such as selection of plant extraction procedure, updates on fractional extracts evaluation, and the effects of specific plant extract on striped catfish immunology, physiology, disease resistance and fillet quality. |
During the discussion, participants from provincial aquaculture departments, farmers, chemical producers queried about the final products developed at the end of the project, especially on the application and cost. The modes of production of the herbal products were also discussed e.g. using the crude extract from the plant or using the synthetized compound after elucidation of the chemical structure. It would be a great news that attendants from feed companies, chemical companies and processing companies are strongly willing to cooperate with the project team on the final stage of the project, expecially on the wider application of the project outcomes.
The project team responded to the participants and recorded the issues. We also confirmed that the use of plant extract would be great benefits in production of safety products and strengthening the environmental friendly aquaculture production in the Mekong, Delta, Vietnam.
